Managing Feeds

Introduction

Feeds contain any specified set of products that you designate within the feed. Once a feed is created, it enables you to manage, edit, organize, and change the display of your products on your store. Feeds can be used in conjunction with the Schedule Tasks tool, more information can be found here.

Viewing Existing Feeds

If feeds already exists in your store, you can access them by going to Products in the menu on the left-side, then Categories and Feeds, and finally View Feeds.

From this view, you will be able to see existing Feed Names, Descriptions (if applicable), Feed ID, Type of Feed, Territories, and if it's Published.

Typically, when your store is set up by our Onboarding team, you will already have feeds in place. You can click on any of these feeds to view which products are included.

After opening the feed, you will see the following:

  1. Feed # - The unique feed # assigned to each feed.
  2. Feed Localization - The selection of territories that the feed will be applied to. If you have more than one territory, click within the territory field to add the remaining.
  3. Description - Where you can add one or more languages to describe your feed.
  4. Language Selection - The existing language will display below, click on the language bar to expand the detail fields that can be filled out. Feed name is mandatory, label it in relation to the products that are going to be contained.

Within the language box, fill in each of the applicable details, feed name is mandatory.

Scrolling down the feed page further, you'll see the following fields:

  1. Other Information - If you'd like the feed to be accessible as a page, toggle to Yes. This will create a dedicated page for the public to view your products.
  2. Feed's Content - To manage the products that exist in the feed, click Edit Feed Elements. Reference ID list is intended for Expert Mode.
  3. Generated List of Products - Displays the generated list of products that exist within your feed.

If any changes are made to the existing feed, select Save at the bottom.

To delete the feed, select the Delete this Feed button.

Adding a New Feed

To add a new feed, go to the menu on the left under Products, Categories and Feeds, Add Feeds. A feed can also be added from the View Feeds tab.

First, select the territories that you would like the feed to apply to.

Next, add at least one language in the Description section by clicking on the Add languages drop down, highlight the language, then select Add+.

To fill in the details for the feed and give it a name, click on the language bar.

Next, select if you'd like to make the feed accessible with a dedicated page. The dedicated page would have the URL of your SEO friendly URL. In the example above, it would be storedomain.com/feedname1

If you do not want the feed accessible as a dedicated page, you would most likely be using the feed for editing, updating, or managing the products through scheduled tasks.

Now, the products can be selected for the feed by clicking on the Edit Feed Elements button.

Once the Edit Feed Element box opens, you can search your Products to select them by Products, Categories, or other existing feeds.

For this example, we'll search for all products that are bundles so that they can be added as a bundle feed. Type the product name in the search field, click search, and the products that match the title will display. They can be dragged from the bottom to the top, and re-arranged, this will be the order that they appear if the feed will be visible. The products can also be clicked on directly to add them quickly to the box above.

Once all of the products that you would like in the feed have been added, click Close. Then click Save at the bottom.

After the feed saves, you will then be able to see the products in your feed. They can be edited at any point.

Conclusion

Feed will allow you to select, organize, display, and update groups of multiple products at once. In conjunction with the Task Scheduler, you can automate these changes so that the time does not have to be spent manually to update each individual product.
